故事的小黃花
從出生那年就飄著
童年的盪鞦韆
隨記憶一直晃到現在

ㄖㄨㄟ ㄙㄡ ㄙㄡ ㄒ一 ㄉㄡ ㄒ
一ruay sou sou si dou si
ㄌㄚ ㄙㄡ ㄌㄚ ㄒ一 ㄒ一 ㄒ一 ㄒ一 ㄌㄚ ㄒ一 ㄌㄚ ㄙㄡ
la sou la si si si si la si la sou

hope you understand fan2 ti3 zi4... but ya i think the words really capture the meaning very well... and in chinese no less! so a jai kantang person like me is very impressed =P

eyes wide shut

No I’m not referring to the movie starring Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise. I’m referring to my current state.

I played a few games of DOTA till 130am last night as a form of post exam stress relief. My next paper is 5 days away and I had been under some stress before yesterday’s exam so I needed some senseless “killing” to get away from it all as I tried to recharge myself for the next paper. In fact, the next 2 papers are in the space of 3 days. So I’m actually preparing for 2 papers at the same time. This only further justified my game playing. =)

Unfortunately, I couldn’t fall asleep immediately after the DOTA session so I watched some late night television instead. Lo and behold, my delayed telecast of the Liverpool match against Portsmouth was being shown. So I stayed up to watch the first half. By the time I turned off the telly, it was already 2 plus. I then tried to go to sleep. I would normally read my bible a little before I sleep but I knew that any reading now would just be reading for the sake of reading so I decided to read it when I woke up instead when I’m fresher and can absorb better.

Unfortunately, there is one side effect of DOTA that came back to haunt me last night. That is, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. For the next half hour, I was tossing and turning in my bed because my brain couldn’t stop thinking of new ways and strategies to beat my opponents. By the time my brain finally got exhausted of thinking, it was already 3am.

Surprisingly I woke up at 11am, which believe it or not is my normal time for waking up.

Yes, that’s right. I’m a pig. Oink.

I love to sleep so even when I sleep early I still end up waking up at 11am. I basically delay waking up until my body tells me it cannot sleep anymore. Either that or my stomach tells me it’s too empty to go any longer without food. If I could help it, I would probably wake up just in time for lunch =P

Anyway, I digress. The point is that despite sleeping so late, I still woke up at the same time. And believe it or not, I feel fresher. My eyes feel less strained and I feel slightly more energetic. Maybe it’s because I finally got ONLY 8 hours of sleep as compared to my over-extended 10 hours of sleep. Sleeping too much can also make me feel sleepy too. It’s a vicious cycle that makes a good 8 hr sleep turn into an 11hr hangover.

Unfortunately, that is how I’m feeling now. I feel like I’m having an 8hr hangover. While my brain is as active and alert as it should be, my eyes feel like closing despite being less strained.

Hence the expression “eyes wide shut”. Not sure if the movie title meant the same thing but that’s what I meant.

So now you know. =)

the manufacturing song and the ah beng song

i've been reading and reciting so many manufacturing terms i feel like i'm practising a song recital... which goes a little like this...

"what kinda materials are there?

well... therrrre'sss..........

brass, bronze, gold, silver, steel, copper, aluminium, lead
tin, zinc, nickel, cobalt, monel, tungsten, magnesium, glad...

but what can you do with it?

well... you caannnnn.......

forge it, press it, cast it, blank it...
mold it, punch it, roll it, weld it
smooth it, treat it, anneal it, stretch it
draw it, extrude it, solder it, glue it

wow.. is there more?

of course there is! there's plastics too!

THERRRREEE"SSSS......"

ok i am tired liao...haha..

but come to think of it, singapore has alot of acronyms that can be made into a song too...

"Ah Beng acronym song"
written by weixian

" I just paid my car's coe,
was driving on the cte,
on my way to cbd,
where i paid my erp,
then i saw the cid,
catching me for dwd (drunk while driving)

one day i went to src
where i went for short pe,
then someone call my hp,
telling me go for ict

i where got time for ict?
i suppose to play in wcg..
so i go see my gp, ask him help me fake mc...
but...

my pc tell my oc that my mc is n.a.
so i say 'sir i pes c'
then he charge me m.i.a.

when i go msn
people all say dnd...
if i try to say hello,
all they say is gtg

my gf say i mcp
so i say she cmi
then she say go ktv,
then i say... 'go and die'

people always ask me why my cpf so low...
i say it's cos i buy hdb..
and my gf buy toto.."

my adopted country is in the world cup!!

Seeing how half my family is Australian, it couldn’t please me more than to watch the country kick their way into the World Cup. I was actually choking back tears when I saw the way the fans supported their country. Great job guys. Good on ya mates.

I’ve quite a few relatives there but to be honest I’m only closer to my sister in Sydney and maybe my cousin in Perth. Nonetheless, Australia still feels somewhat like my 2nd home. When I go there, I don’t feel like I’m a tourist but more like I’m visiting a distant relative.

I wonder if I would feel as excited if China reached the World Cup. Did they? Oops…

Reports said Harry Kewell did a great job coming on as a substitute. Seeing how he is a Liverpool player that pleases me. He seems like he’s finally going to show the real Harry Kewell. Before today, I wouldn’t have exactly shed a tear if he left the club. Hopefully, he can carry his performance for his country to his club.

This is the first time Australia has entered the World Cup in 32 years! Blimey! Maybe this is the only time I get to see them in a World Cup! (Choy…) Maybe I REALLY should go Germany after all…maybe Australia winning is a sign I’m meant to be in Germany…*wink*

Haha…=P

Well there’re a lot of factors to consider. One of it is money. It’s not the air fare I am worried about. It’s the tickets to the stadiums. I have to empty my bank just to watch Australia go through the group stages. If they get into the pre quarter finals I’ll have to watch them from a telly in a pub somewhere…

Fair dinkum (No bluff in aussie speak…)… those tickets are really that expensive…

Hmm….hmm…hmm… how can I earn lots of money in a short period of time?

Erm…Have I told you all the story of how I am actually planning to go to this country somewhere to build lots of schools for needy children? They are really in need of your help… all they need is a few thousand dollars...German euros are preferred.

So please call 1800-W-O-R-L-D-C-U-P…

Ignore the world cup part… think of the children… and if they happened to be all called weixian… well… erm… what a coincidence!

(P.S. if you don’t know the World Cup is a worldwide soccer competition held every four years, please go bang your head against a tree somewhere…)

(P.P.S. the World Cup is not to be associated with the World Championship held in December this year. if you didn’t know the difference, you don’t have to bang your head... because nobody cares about the World Championship anyway… haha…unless you’re a Liverpool fan this year…Liverpool is representing Europe you see…)

(P.P.P.S. The World Cup is NOT a club competition!! It’s for countries only! Stop confusing it with Champions League!!)

*bleah* =P

what would you do?

"what would you do? if my heart was torn in two? more than words to show you feel that your love for me was real.."
"what would you say? if i took those words away? then you couldn't make things new just by saying i love you"

robbie williams recently commented that the words " i love you " have become so commercialised that it's got to the point of being sickly. every pop song uses it without any real feeling or emotion attached. yet, as he said, it's still the 3 sweetest words anyone could say to their girl..

if they mean it...

more than words... feelings and actions... that's what matters... "more than words" is a 1990's classic that was recently remade...and i must say it's quite a nice remake..when i first heard it i thought it made alot of sense and was super romantic...the kinda song i wanted to sing to my girlfriend..

10 years on.. and i still feel the same way...

when it comes to such things, more than words is all we need..

"then you wouldn't have to say 'you love me' cos i'd already know... "

=)

i'm such an expert at words that i doubt a girl would trust me if i tried to sweet talk my way through... she'll think i just know how to say the right things at the right time...

well...yes and no...

yes in the sense i can phrase things better than others... i remember this guy tried to impress my female friend once..

what he MEANT to say was " there may be other girls out there whom you would typically call 'beautiful' but as far as i'm concerned, you're the prettiest girl i've ever met and the only one i could ever love"

what he ended up saying was...

" you know you're not actually that pretty... there're alot of girls prettier than you... but i still like you... doesn't that show i'm sincere?"

ouch....

my friend was like " how could i even get touched.... i was insulted..."

i would have said what was meant to be said... for sure.. cos i know enough english to know how to phrase things better...

but what cannot be faked is truth... trust me when i say there's a difference between sweet talk and speaking from the heart.. in fact, that guy did speak from the heart too. he just fumbled his words and the meaning that could have been so sweet ended up as an insult..

but girls aren't sure.. they always wonder.. "if this guy is so good at words, maybe it's all just an act.. guys are jian4 after all..."

cos of those jian4 guys, my job is alot tougher.. but in the end the girls are right.. it has to be... more than words...

numa numa...hadujk!!

the song you are hearing now is called the "numa numa" song.

you'll be hearing this song alot if you watch movies... cos it's part of the trailer for chicken little.

but to know how this song all started you need to click on this link

http://256310.myshoutbox.com/go/?u=http://www.guzer.com/videos/numa_numa.php

from the link, you'll see a guy in front of his web cam..this guy decided to come up with a home music video of his fave song. this happened about a year back. he posted the video online and the next thing he knows everyone is downloading his video. everyone thought the song was quite nice too... and the band should really give the guy a small sum of money for helping to make the band famous worldwide...

ignore the video i posted on this blog. i only wanted to let you all hear the song. those guys are just doing another version. it is not the original version that i posted above. check my link..that guy with the earphones is the real deal. his miming is perfect and his expressions are damn funny..and don't you think he looks like yihang? =P (nus people will know who i mean..)

i first watched this video about one year ago. at that time i told everybody this song would be the next big thing but unfortunately it was only well known among the "ang moh" people like me. when i sang it to my friends everyone just laughed... well i can finally let you all hear what the song really sounds like... =)

now that disney is using the song for their trailer i bet everyone's going to hear it alot... it's the next "lemon tree" one hit wonder...although for the band's sake i hope they are not actually a one hit wonder...

this is more of a de stress song to cheer you up when you're feeling bored and sick of studying. i have no idea what numa numa means..

will post nicer videos later on... bear with those 3 guys for a while.. besides you are just supposed to listen to the music... why do you think i put the video all the way below...=P

"guys can ask girls out, girls can only hint"

That’s the only advantage of being a guy as far as dating is concerned. If I like somebody I can happily chase and plan out what to do instead of trying to make somebody chase me. How do you make decisions and plan things when you’re always waiting for the other party to take the initiative? And worse, the guy could just be so blur he didn’t realize you liked him too. So in the end what could have become one remained as two. =P

But girls still have the advantage actually. After all, think about it the other way. If guys are all expected to take the initiative shouldn’t it mean you just have to sit and wait for him to do something? All girls have to plan is how to respond in the right manner to keep the interest in you going without appearing “cheap”. To guys that isn’t even logical… how could liking someone too much be “cheap”? but after knowing girls for some time I understand where you’re coming from… so ok go on and make yourself “expensive” haha…

In the end, girls have all the control. They are the ones who dictate how far the guy can go and guys can only patiently wait for their response to see what their next step should be.

And if girls say “ya that’s true if the guy I like happened to like me too and is daring enough to chase me. But what if the guy is too shy to admit he likes me or do something about it?”

Well, the way I see it, if the guy is not daring enough to even chase after someone he likes, I’m not sure he’s the kind of guy you really want… haha… and girls’ ideas of hinting also assume the guy likes her back so you might as well just wait for him to do something… it’s less stressful and you have all the control =P

The only problem is when a girl likes a guy so very much that she must have him even if he doesn’t like her yet. Now the girl has to chase after the guy. If that sounds weird to you, then there lies the reason it’s so difficult. It’s just weird lah…

But fret not. We live in the 21st century after all. There are many girls out there who openly chase after guys. Personally I even think that’s kinda sexy… haha.. so you can do it too…just don’t paste a photo of him on your toilet window with lipstick marks all over… that’s not sexy that’s psychotic…

i'm blogging again.. so you know what that means...

yup that's right. The projects are finally over. I am back to my usual nerdy self which means I will blog often so as to get away from studies. Not that I am extremely proud of being a nerd but at least I feel more comfortable with studying than studying AND meeting deadlines at the same time. I have a new found admiration for those people who work in the day and attend degree courses at night. Just how do they do it? I already feel drained after a 2 hr project meeting. Where do they find the energy to study after 8 hours of work?

When it comes to office stuff, it’s not the workload that kills you. It’s the “emotional labour”. Wow I’m using a human resource term (pat myself). This is not the same as being hypocritical of course. I am not pretending to be somebody else. But as project leader, I needed to behave as one, to be in control and to be the calm voice among the confusion especially when last minute changes were made. That is what takes a lot out of me. So much so in fact that I find it hard to do anything else but play DOTA after a long day on projects.

However, if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. I adore my group mates. That’s right people. I L-O-V-E them. They are all great people. We work hard for each other and I have yet to hear any significant back stabbing. Which compared to what I saw in army says a lot about the respect and character these people have. I often find myself singing praises for people only to feel bitterly disappointed in them a few months later. However, if these people can remain such good mates amidst all the stresses we’ve had so far I can’t imagine why they would change. Unless of course the stresses we felt this semester are nothing compared to what we will be experiencing next semester. Come to think of it, that IS a possibility. I can only hope my group mates have as high a thresh hold as I thought they have. That includes myself. I hope I can continue to keep up the leadership role come what may.

But for now, all that stuff about projects and being a good leader can take a back seat while exams loom large in everyone’s mind.

As always I like to come up with a list of things to do after the exams are over. Here’s what I can think of so far.

KTV
Playing Soccer For Real
Playing Soccer On Xbox
Watching Soccer
Watching People Watching Soccer
Wacthing People Watching People Watching Soccer
Ok You Get The Idea…
Making Phone Calls… =P
Tutoring My “Xiao Mei” (She calls me kor kor so I guess that makes her my xiao mei? She’s a very nice gal and her bro’s a good friend of mine so I count it as something fun)
Eating…(too many places to list…)
Going out for DOTA or just lunch with church friends after Sunday… church friends are really nice people...and somehow you just feel they are more than friends because we are sibling in Christ… they feel more like my cousins actually…=)
Going out with cousins… must must…
Going out with yc… must must… and he’s a guy so dun start any gossip... and yes I’m straight…
Meeting up with people I enjoy going out with… very general I know but too many to describe in detail
